The TIGP-MBAS program offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary curriculum that builds a robust foundation in the molecular agricultural sciences and modern biotechnology. The core courses equip students with in-depth knowledge in biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, and cell biology, with a special focus on the application of transgenic technology in agriculture.
In addition, seminars provide a platform for continuous academic engagement and critical discussion, while laboratory rotations offer practical, hands-on research experience. The elective courses allow students to tailor their studies with topics ranging from phytochemistry and herbal medicine to academic writing, literature review, metabolic biochemistry, and plant transgenic technology.
This blend of rigorous core content, practical training, and elective flexibility prepares students to excel in advanced research and professional practice in biotechnology and agricultural sciences.
Core Courses:
Molecular and Cellular Approaches for Biotechnologies (4 credits)
Advanced Animal Biology (3 credits)
Advanced Plant Biology (3 credits)
Advanced Microbiology (3 credits)
These courses are designed to provide a strong foundation in biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, and cell biology. They also emphasize the application of transgenic technology in modern biotechnology and offer extensive experience in agricultural sciences.
Seminars:
Ph.D. students are required to complete four seminar credits (one credit per semester) during the first two years of the program.
Laboratory Rotations:
Students must undertake at least two laboratory rotations within the MBAS program, either at Academia Sinica or National Chung Hsing University (NCHU), during their first year.
Elective Courses:
Phytochemistry and Herbal Medicine
Writing a Good Quality Research Article in English (Academic Writing class)
Research Topics
Literature Review
Metabolic Biochemistry Made Easy
Plant Transgenic Technology (lab work required)
Elective courses offered by other TIGP programs (up to 6 credits) or selected courses from National Chung Hsing University.
Chinese Language:
To facilitate daily communication with locals, international students are required to complete a one-year Mandarin Chinese course.
